Tasks overview
Tasks are the backbone of TickTad. They cover everything from a one-off errand to a chore that repeats every week.
What a task can be
Section titled “What a task can be”- A one-off reminder (“Book the dentist”).
- A routine that repeats daily, weekly or monthly (“Water the plants every Monday”).
- An ECA activity for a child (“Karate class, Tue & Thu, 5pm”).
- A grocery item linked to a shopping list.
Task anatomy
Section titled “Task anatomy”Each task has:
- Title and optional description.
- Frequency — once, daily, weekly or monthly, with an interval and specific weekdays or day-of-month.
- Timing — a due date, and one or more times.
- Assignee — who’s responsible.
- Priority — a flag for the things that matter most.
- Kind — routine, ECA or grocery (see below).
Task kinds
Section titled “Task kinds”TickTad groups tasks into three kinds so money and scheduling behave correctly:
| Kind | Use for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Routine | chores, reminders, errands | the default kind |
| ECA | kids’ classes, tuition, activities | can carry a fee and cycle (per class/month/term) |
| Grocery | shopping items | linked to a list |
The lifecycle
Section titled “The lifecycle”A task template generates instances for each scheduled day over a rolling horizon. Each instance moves through a status, from pending to done and (when a helper is involved) confirmed. See Task statuses.
